Now, this might be an obvious question (or not).
How do you know if plastic pipe which is in situ can be solvent welded?
Or can all plastic waste pipe be done?
The pipe in talk about is on the washing machine post & it has plastic compression at the moment.
Can it be solvent welded?
Cheers all

only solvent weld type can be glued, push fit cannot, push fit is slightly smaller,

Cheers Tom I thought not but better to ask You can use compression on both rocky, but you probably already know that mate. I've joined pushfit and solvent weld together by heating the pushfit and forming a socket, needs must when you're on a job with limited supplies . That pushfit stuff is shite too ! jvtsl41E0pOEtzQWTQLo thumbs down

1.5 inch pushfit waste fits quite well into 1.5 inch solvent pipe, I once used solvent to make a join like that with no fittings, I was still at college at the time. Told my tutor what I'd done and he properly took the piss out of me but I was adamant that it was all good because there were no leaks when I tested it, it was on a bath. I'd forgotten about it until I went back last year to try and find the source of some damp under the bathroom, it was a landlords property and he was tight which is why I did it that way 15(ish) years ago. It has been leaking slightly all this time whenever the bath was used, not enough to be obvious but enough to be a problem. Wallpaper in the kitchen underneath the join wouldn't stay stuck and was always damp, it was above the kitchen window so the landlord thought it was bad pointing until he had the wall repointed and it carried on. Oops.
