Hi to all.
I have changed some radiator valves replaced recently, old type to thermostattic ones and I now get a humming noise from the new valves when the heating is on.
Any ideas anyone ?
Many thanks TJ

hello trevor, firstly welcome to the brew cabin, I hope you find this forum useful, informative and a friendly place to come, Now about your heating, Its very strange to get 'humming' noises in the valves, It might be a restriction somewhere else in the system, like the pump and the vibration is being transfered through the pipework,Air in the pump would cause this, try bleeding the pump and bleed all the rads with the heating off, then fully open all the valves and let the system run for a while, then check and let us know if its improved,

Have you installed bi-directional valves ?
Have you increased pump speed to force out airlocks and not reset the speed to its normal working speed ?

Thank you both for your replies.
The pump is on its normal speed and everything has been vented, the thermostatic valves I fitted are some I got from my father which have been in his garage for some yrs.
I will have a looked into what you call, BI-DIRECTIONAL valves and report back.
Thank once again
Trevor J

Put your heating on Trevor and find which pipe gets hot first and that is your flow and if your new valve has one arrow on the body it is not bi directional and must be fitted on the flow, if you have it on the return it will create system noise.

Thanks for all your help. It now appears I have the old style valves on the return side of the system, so I know what my job is tomorrow.
Regards Trevor J
