Had a customer today asking to commission there 4 boilers so they can get a building regs certificates. All the boilers are between 6 to 10 years old. Boilers were not registered. Have any of you guys done this? Ive only ever commisioned new boilers ive installed for the building regs cert.

that's an interesting situation, I don't know how they'll go on with that one, a few years ago a guy asked me to give a gassafe safety cert for his unregestered boiler, He told me the old cock and bull story about the plumber who said he was gassafe reg but went away to Austraila and never came back, Anyrode, I tested the boiler and issued a cert and never heard anything since, So I guess the council will issue the builing regs certs even though they probably been ilegaly installed as long as they're safe,

Would it not be prudent to drain down, take the boiler off the wall & then refit it?
Surely that's the same as fitting a 2nd hand boiler.
You're not giving any guarantees or warranties
Plus if they want to go down this road then it'll cost ££££
I'm sure they're thinking £50 odd quid a boiler
£250 per boiler & we'll see if there serious

Also, working a few jobs with my gas safe chum, he does certification etc
He basically says he's confirming the here & now that it's safe, not tomorrow, next week or 6 months later. It's a good point.

It's a good point. that's a point echoed by boiler maintenance and service companies for future business, and now the whole house has come under simular laws/regs, In the day, you built a house and it was good for 100 years no problem, Now its become a money spinner to give it a 'MOT' everytime it changes hands and someone makes money from it, and not just a few bob, ££££££££ssssss, smiley-face-shaking-fist

I get what your saying. I gave them a price of £150 a boiler plus any repairs would be extra to bring up to current buiding regs standards. I dont know why they want the building compliance certificate as a gas safety check and boiler service is normally enough to sell a house when the boiler is over 5 years. Even after telling them this they still want it done and are happy with the price?? Should have said £250🤑
