Hi all I have a customer who wants a cold feed to shed from house could you advise me if 20mm mdpe pipe is OK to use what depth does it need to be buried water regs says 750 mm min is this to deep? Also does it need insulating and also can it run above ground thanks for any advice

20mm will be plenty big enough, the reason it's buried 750mm is to prevent freezing so at the depth insulation is not neccessary but once inside the shed it will need insualtion, to do it to rules, you need to find your incoming water main and dig down to join in and tee off, then dig a trench to the shed at 750mm and come up in the shed, Very work intensive, I would Tee off from the sink inside the house, valve off and go through the wall, then pick a route to the shed that nobodys going to trip over or look an eyesore, like along a fence or tucked in a verge and insulate, In winter,turn it off at the valve,

Thanks for all replys as the shed is going to be used as a office the water will be on all year so the customer wants it in a trench he is going to dig this himself good luck with that so can I use mdpe about six inches above ground through disused tumble dryer vent into house the building inspector has been round to check electrics so I need to do right by them thanks
