I'm going to that turbo Dudley siphon tomorrow
I read it's factory set at 7ltrs so I'll open the flap to allow a 9ltr flush
Other than that there's not much more I can do?
Any thoughts?

It's also worth checking the neck of the pan for an obstruction (very common fault) at the flush pipe connection (if it's close coupled it should be fine).
On a "flush piped attached toilet" sometimes the cistern is too close to the toilet for an adequate flush and needs to be lifted.
Off hand I can't think of anything else.
Good luck Rocky.

Might be worth just checking the diaphragm washer just in case, is link arm bit to long? Cant think of anything else.... is it filling up enough?

I got foxed last year, I thought it was a blockage, I spend a couple of hours investigating the problem, It turmed out that one of those blue toilet bleach blocks had gone into the pan from the cistern and was lodged in the internal waterways, it cleared itself after a while as it disolved away, Here, twat of a job

It fills 100%
I'll check the link arm. What's the rule of thumb with these? It was flushing ok when I left it months ago!

Blocking up too easily and being right pigs to unblock due to that double trap is as good a reason as any for them not catching on tom.
They were pretty big though in the late 70s and early 80s.

Could be bad news Rocky. The arrival of the 6L flush was the call of death for the good old British syphon. Give it 9L and make the fill level as high as possible. If it's still a no go you can convert to a modern flush valve fairly easily with a pack from B&Q. Tappy,

Fiddled with the toilet, when it flushed it only half emptied the cistern
Fiddled again & again & nothing then...
I just flushed it & released the handle immediately & the cistern emptied
If you flushed & held handle it wouldn't empty
So I told custard, showed her & she had a go
All seems ok.

On the back of those Dudleys there's a spare rubber washer. If you take off the link arm and slide out the diaphragm and put the washer on the stem and reassemble you'll get a full flush all the time, whether the handle's held or released.
