Fiddled with the toilet, when it flushed it only half emptied the cistern Fiddled again & again & nothing then... I just flushed it & released the handle immediately & the cistern emptied If you flushed & held handle it wouldn't empty So I told custard, showed her & she had a go All seems ok. Came across this Rocket www.thomasdudley.co.uk/bathroom/cistern-components/turbo-88-syphon.html

On the back of those Dudleys there's a spare rubber washer. If you take off the link arm and slide out the diaphragm and put the washer on the stem and reassemble you'll get a full flush all the time, whether the handle's held or released. That's exactly what I always do dcox, I find that this water saving dual flush tends to confuse the customer and you end up with a re-visit that's not your fault.

I only know about it because it caught me out a few days ago. The customer had broken the flush handle (one of the ones that pivots through the side of the cistern rather than the front) and I had to adjust the height of the Dudley to make the link fit. Couldn't work out why I was only getting half a flush and assumed it was something I'd done while messing around with it. Eventually the penny dropped and I realised I was holding the handle down.
Incidentally, the new handle was slightly larger than the old one and I had to use a tile file to make the hole in the cistern a bit bigger. Worked a treat much to my relief.
