This job has come up for monday, there asking for the secondary h/w pipe work to be cut right back to f/r,when I say they its a joiner whos started working in the office and dont fook all about plumbing lol! Now im thiking it would be best to loop the flow back around to the return to the balancing valve, keeping it close to the valves ,so theres no dead legs, the balancing wont be affected,it can be piped back up in the future if people change there mind? And makes the job easyer! The cold will be chopped right back...my question is do you think the balancing of the secondary hot water will be affected if I cut pipe work right back as they are asking for? Would you guys agree to leave the circuit in with looping it around and keeping it close to the balancing valves? Its a large care centre buildind! smiley-talk002 3 amigos

I'm not really seeing this job at all EF (perhaps you have to see it to get on it's case).
I know that there is a big thing at the moment regarding dead legs and legionella bacteria in care homes (in spite it living in water as long as waters been around).
Good luck with it though because it looks a very awkward job.
The cold supply to the shower is tank fed from a large communal storage tank I take it?
The hot water to the shower is teed off from a communal secondary return?
To remove the tee on the hot water SR all the care home will be without hot water for the time it takes, does the joiner gaffer realise this?
A capped cold feed pipe is really the only place where a very very very slight legionella risk could occur.

Can I take it that this is all looking upwards EF, because the pipes are located in a false ceiling? Looks like a good job you've done there EF, although I'm not still fully with it on this one!! Tappy,

Yer ive read it back it is confusing!the client of care home wants their level access shower room changing into a store room,in there is a bog, shower, basin.ive got to take it all out and pipe work right back to tee's in ceiling void,so theres no dead legs. Took mcw right back to were it tee's in.but the secondary circuit, insted of taking that right back to tee, i loop it around from flow to return, to keep balancing valves in and keep circuit flowing.the pipe work went right back to a corridor in the ceiling void and thats were the balancing valves are.πcheers c/f. There is now loads of scrap copper in ceiling but i cant get to itπ.
