In 2005ish, I once bought a house in Hull where I live while drinking in a local boozer for £500 it was more or less derelict although the bloke I bought it off was still living in it. He did move out when the deal was completed.

At the time people where moving out of the street as it had gotten bad and a lot of the empty houses where getting fired by vandals. My idea was to tart the front up so it looked as someone was living there (even though there was some one living in it, but it still looked derelict). So it didn't get fired.

How much is it worth today?
Was it an earner?
I have heard some streets are unliveable & crime ridden.

Its been knocked down now Rocket, just after I bought it the landlords from down south started investing in shite properties, I spent £7k doing it up lived in it for a bit then selt it for £42K, I bought a couple down the same street (not for £500 mind) and made a couple of quid, it was good while it lasted. I still live around the same area because I was born around here and have no problems with anyone.

Pity the council can't afford to do them up to a decent homes standard themselves cause they will have been nice family homes for many people sometime in the past and could've been again. Sad really.
