hey up. What do the gas regs say about removing hoses from cookers? Do you have to be on the gas register to remove a hose? I know they are supposed to be self sealed, but heard stories about them seeping out and if going from say gas to electric then to have them cut out and soldered up. Cheers

hiya jj, good to hear from you fella! no it was more in relation to removing one for someone and swapping out for electric mate. I have heard others say (nothing related to this) they have investigated small leaks and turned out was from the fitting bayonet weeping by.

Ahh, if you're disconnecting the hose then blanking off the existing supply, I reckon you'd have to be registered to do that. Surely for the cooker though, there will already be an electricity supply to a blanking plate behind where the cooker is going? Most houses have a space for the cooker, but the builders don't know if the owner is gonna put an electric or gas cooker in, so supply a gas pipe and connector and an electricity supply? (It's like this in our house anyway)

evening all, sorry for the delay in replying. been manic with one thing and the other. stamp how are the hands Tom? Quacks said anymore? the way it is today i think the safest thing with jobs like this is i will get a gas safe pal in to remove the hose and cooker from where it is and advise the customer - that way if they leave it, or solder it up its nowt to do with me when i fit the electric one as its replacement

I think that's better. Let a gasman do it
It's not hard to do but if something leaks & someone snuffs it you're screwed!
