Got a bit of water hammer since combi s gone in,i could lift floor boards and clip pipes but c.b.a!..shock arresters are well expensive(im a tight git)so plan is to maķe my own!!question is do they work? And how tall does the stub on tee have to be? Does it have to be located near to the tap that is causing the water hammer?? Cheers guys 💪👍

Cheers guys 💪👍 Homemade ones are shite endfeed you're better off with the right tool for the job, I've fitted loads of the ones I've put a link up for as water hammer is always a problem when I convert systems from indirect to direct.

Those shock arrester were 30 squid each when I was looking....10 squid im gona buy it!!!! cheers p.b

the home made ones work if they point upwards but are illegal because they can breed bugs and nasty diseases, the ones you buy have a piston inside which keeps the water and air separate, thats a good find PB,

Do you fit them anywhere on pipe or has it got to be close to offending tap?

Do you fit them anywhere on pipe or has it got to be close to offending tap? Fit it where you like mate as long as its open to that circuit away from check valves. If its one tap causing the problem I'd change the tap, ceramic disc taps are notorious for causing water hammer.

Plus, it's not always the tap were the noise appears to be coming from that's causing the noise problem.
