I've had one that only leak when the customer stood in the shower - leaked from drain to base seal.

It's totally dry under the trashy
It's a mystery as it's not all the time

I've also had a one where the daughter used to wash her hair and point the shower head at the corner while doing so - result water forced through the grout and caused a damp patch in the room on the other side. So check if it's after a particular persons showing habits!

It's very difficult to broach this subject with the customer and usually ends with an argument, but battle is 100% correct with this. A line that I often use is "I think it's spillage because you can't have water from nowhere"! What is around the shower tray rocky? Is it an enclosure (good) or shower curtain (bad). Some people shower very carefully whilst others will swing the shower head round their head, fire it up at the ceiling, down the tiles, then up their bum, taking no care whatsoever of the direction that the spray is going in. I seem to spend more time these days investigating these types of leaks than doing actual plumbing! Tappy,

I was faced with exactly the same problem yesterday. Shower was leaking so badly that it brought a ceiling down, insurance company renewed the ceiling now customer wants me to sort the leak, totally dry under the shower enclosure not much waste to see because it goes under floorboards after about 18'', some bad tiling but not bad enough to explain the 'pouring water' that the customer describes when shower was used. Problem is, the insurers have replaced the ceiling so the waste run is hidden behind it now, tiled above so only way to properly investigate is to chop away at the new ceiling to expose the run. She's getting on to the insurers but I doubt they'll pay for remedial work after I've smashed half their new ceiling up to find the leak.

Christ, you'd have thought insurers/ customer would have got the leak fixed first before renewing the bloody ceiling? Fookin idiots.

Christ, you'd have thought insurers/ customer would have got the leak fixed first before renewing the bloody ceiling? Fookin idiots. That's because the insurance company doesn't pay to fix the cause just the damage its caused. The whole system is crazy with the insurance!

The leak has ceased (again) Ahh, they've obviously not paid the water bill and have been cut off yet again.

as others have said, leaks don't cure them selves, and its a good thing too or we'd all be out of work,
