I very rarely see water pipes sleeved going through walls, I think that with water pipes it's more about avoiding contact with mortar than anything else, so denso or similar should be fine. Gas pipes are different because you're fubar'd if you don't follow the regs with gas. You know you're not allowed to install a new outside tap with the check valve integrated into the tap, must be an internal one. That is of course if you're bothered about the rules Apparantly they only still sell integrated check valve bib taps because you can replace an existing one without being a naughty boy, just can't use one on a new installation. I've done it though, we've probably all done it. Funny thing is, if I was installing an outside tap for another plumber, I'd definitely sleeve it with 22mm copper, I'd have an internal DCV and wouldn't use flexis just so he'd have nothing to pull me up on. If I was doing one on my house though I'd probably do none of the above And in the job you've shown I'd probably just use a through wall backplate and connect it to the existing WM tap with a 3/4 flexi tap connector leaving my blowtorch in its' bag and not even having to turn the mains water off. Rulez really iz for foolz Through wall backplates. I love 'em. Attachment Deleted

Infact, the outside tap at my house is proper shite. I fitted it 15 years ago when I was at college doing plumbing. It was a B and Poo kit for about a tenner back then. Uses a self cutting washing machine tap with integrated check valve, then a length of what looks like garden hose through the wall and down into a backplate elbow and bib tap, it's sealed to the backplate elbow using a blummin jubilee clip. Has been dripping for the last 5 years but I'm not on a water meter so I don't care They definitely break pretty much every reg concerning outside tap installs but B and Poo still sell the buggers. There's no way the bit of garden hose is WRAS approved.
