A terrible time
All starts with stop cock not moving, turned off in Rd, still dribbling, ISO on all ok. Drill through wall, first mistake. Customer did not want me to cut back of unit too much so I tried & struggled, got fed up, cut the back of unit out. Connect up, leak. Got fed up. Drilled another hole through wall & elbowed off ISO & connected up. All ok. 3 long hours.
Lesson learned, cut the unit if you need space, screw the customer.
All ok. No leaks, paid & left.
No pics.

its a struggle under sinks, its even worse when like me, need glasses to see and the 'close work' lense is on the bottom of your specs so looking up under a sink is not possible so most sinkwork is done in braille in my case,,, rthdr, ffot

I wear glasses too. At least next time I'll admit defeat earlier & change tack.
Once I'd made the decision to drill a new hold further away it all fell into place.

When Plumbing starts to go wrong it hardly ever gives the plumber a break and absolutely nothing will go as planned.
On some days you just know that your lucks out today.
Backs in units are a terrible idea especially for plumbers.

Depending on the thickness and quality of the back of the unit, I'll sometimes just carry on drilling after getting through the wall and get a nicely placed hole in the back of the unit where my pipe comes through. Usually have to stick a few inches extra on the end of the copper from the through wall backplate so that it reaches through the wall and then into the unit. Can only use endfeed for that unless your hole is much bigger than the pipe. (I use an 18mm bit I think) Also got some long wood bits that I can use to drill into the unit back from outside after drilling the wall but if it's a bit of 4mm compressed cardboard like on cheap units the masonry bit will get through it with some pushing.
