I dunno PB, I never investigated the cause, I've used those hep20 inserts myself at times but never had a problem, I figured it was the ball o fix centre slot, I've seen many on the cheap 0.80p ones leak before now, I'd never put them where they can't be accessed in the future,

Could of been the iso its self mate as I know what you mean about the cheap ones. I always find when I use compression fittings on pushfit that the copper olives always seal better than the brass olives and I find brass olives work better on chrome.

I only use wras ones now. They're so easy to make water tight, I used cheapo ones & it needed a good old tighten.

I always feel your arms are just never long enough, as thought the bathroom designers knew that!
Strange why the valves have been fitted so you couldn't turn them off without hassle?
