I bought one ages ago PB & never used it, I get by with box spanners & one of these; Plumbing Wrenches Telescopic Basin Wrench 278mm - 455mm Chrome-plated, spring-loaded steel telescopic basin wrench with self-locating, self-locking hook. I bought a tool that’s good. Those tap spanners that you put around the nut i can’t get on with.

Me old gaffer (back in the day) had one and we would ask to borrow it saying to him "can we borrow the crawldad spanner Sid"? Sid would look puzzled at us at first then realise that we were asking to borrow his adjustable basin wrench! NB "Crawldad" was the name one of the plumbers made up for the gaffer, because he treats all his workers like his sons. BASTARD SONS that is ! It will always be called the Crawldad spanner in my book! It was a really expensive spanner to buy back then and a traveling salesman apparently sold it to him. I'd never seen one since until I went on holiday to the USA ten years ago and was so thrilled to find one that I bought it and brought it all the way back with me. Then just a few months later they appeared in all the tool shops.
