He did a lovely job on the oak work and I helped him get it all in position, he brought the oak as big beams and processed it on site. He did a great job, it was back in the summer.  |

I often do the smaller lead jobs for him but on the bigger jobs the roofers will do it. Its one of them skills you never forget a bit like riding a bike. greensmilies-010 |

I've never met a plumber who dos't like flashing, Its far better than clambering under a bath, or shifting furniture to get boards up or struggling in a attic on a hot day, A pair of snips,a block of wood and a tape, and if you can get the builder to grind out the joints, its a relaxing day at the office, |

Nice one P.b,they don't teach the young un's lead at college any more. They teach em underfloor heating.got move with the times i guess.I can remember doing a lead slate and felt awesome when i did it👊

biggest test when I was a lad was making a chimney back, no lead burning, bossed out, to do it proper with a 2 inch upturn would take me 3 to 4 hours without ripping or creasing, some of the old timers would halve that time, its an art in itself, to day the roofers buy a ready made chimney back, and its lead burned, not bossed,

Your right there tom it's an art. The builders at work do the lead mostly.dont think they realise it plumbers job!!I think windows and doors was the plumbers job years ago,sure i heard it somewhere???
