when you think about this plastic shit pipe, by the time you've put the insert in, you've throttled it down to about 6mm but, it still works, its all 10mm plastic on new housing now,

You would think it would block up with the size of the insert 💩💩💩 You get more pressure in small bore endfeed which keeps it clearer

Talking of inserts, dimantled plenty of the old brown "Acorn" fittings and not an insert to be seen and held water for years.

acorn was the original pushfit, now they are hep20, they garrantee 50 years were john guest will only guarrantee 25 years, So they are defo a better fitting, also i've ripped out copper that has been only semi soldered and held for decades, ( I bet we all have) , it depends how its supported and the load its holding, but its safe to say, copper cant flex and pull/push itself out, plastic can, and does, insurance statistics will prove that,

Sometimes you get away with it and sometimes not. I've taken MDPE apart and found no inserts, I've gone out to leaks and found push fit suddenly dripping and found there is no insert but its held for a few yrs. As Tom says solder joints that come apart when you look at them but have held water tight. I remember my old boss always saying flux and solder as you go, he said on gravity feed pipes a fluxed endfeed fitting can hold for a while and then feeling-blue-smiley-emoticonrain

It exists, like I said, I've seen it once in all my time plumbing. When the custard told me it was 6mm I was like 'nah you must be wrong', got there and the calipers proved it, I went away phoned my merchant who couldn't help then researched a bit online and found fittings but only mail order so phoned the custard back and explained I was too busy as it needed ripping out and replacing with at least 10mm meaning all notches etc. would need to be made bigger.
