Hi everyone, came across one of these cylinders today in a downstairs bathroom, customer was complaining of low flow in the kitchen mono mixer tap, bath and wash hand basin hot water taps were fine they are separate hot and cold taps. the cylinder although roughly a half meter higher than all outlets I suspect the problem with the kitchen tap is the length of the distribution pipe, any help gratefully received thanks- Anthony

Mono mixer are smallbore and are mainly suited to direct systems,as bath and basin taps generally are suited to high and low pressure.

I agree with PB
Those combi fortic type things are not my cup of tea. Mum has one, terribly low pressure in bathroom

Not tried it myself, but if the new tap came with flexi hoses, it may be worth swapping them for the soft copper tails that are available separately (I think Screwfix sell them) to increase the bore to the taps. There are some mono mixers that, on paper, would be suitable for 0.1 bar pressure which I guess this setup would be, but agree that separate hot and cold taps in this situation would probably have been a better option.

The hot pressure won't ever be decent. Not sure if a pump would work.
I fitted a pump in my mates mobile home as he has a fortic & basin hot was a drip. Now lovely jubbly

A customer asked me to fit a shower in a house, the fortic cylinder was in a cupboard upstairs, I told him that the shower he'd got ( gravity mixer) would never work, So he said I can't take it back, it fell off a wagon, can it be pumped he asked,,So i told it can but the manufacturer will not quarrantee the pump because it cannot be fitted as per MI's, So he said well its worth a chance do it, and it works great,

The problem with them combi tanks is the cold top tank is so small probably holds about 5 gallons if your lucky so if you do fit a pump it will use up the water quick time and you will end up with all kinds of problems from air locks to sputtering pump , i would check the cold main pressure that feeds the tank and if its ok you could think about fitting a small unvented mains fed cylinder and that would solve your problem... : )

thanks for all the ideas guys starting with the cheapest I will suggest to customer that we change flexi hoses for solid copper ones and take it from there, thanks again guys

I'd also suggest fitting a non return valve to the hot pipework under the sink if the pressure is low to stop the mains pressure cold mixing in the tap body and forcing its way back to the cylinder.

I agree dcox its still going to fight the 10mm inlet at the tap but the pipe will maintain its 15mm whereas a flexi is less internal dia and more likley to kink, but its the cheapest fix and may improve enough for the customers acceptance, if not, the next step is how much do they want to spend,
