From time to time I get asked to take out washing machines and dishwashers if people are moving house and usually end up squirting a plug of silicone in the spigot end to seal it. I know when you buy a new trap with spigots they often come with blue plastic plugs but is there anything available to cap them properly if you don't have them?

Some times I take the spigot off and push plumbermate up it and reattach.

I'm answering my own question - should have done more research first. The blue McAlpine plugs have their own part number - 228532 - but can't find them available anywhere. Or.....might just pick up a few of these to keep on the van. For just over a £1 it's worth it not to have the hassle of digging out the dried up silicone in the gun or starting a new one. Look what I found in my local City Plumbing today. And only 17p each, so I splashed out and bought a bag of 10. Attachment Deleted

Good find that DC and I'll have to get a pkt myself.
I fit a lot of electric showers and the red plug which covers the CW inlet on the new shower makes for a good temp' W/W plug, but it's better to have the proper thing.
