Hi all, Couple of years ago I had very little domestic hot water in the taps from the coil in tank. I got a Magna flow fitted and everything was good. There was one Rad that was turned off at the TRV and with the cold spell it was turned on but no heat. I unscrewed TRV and pin was down so lifted it up but no heat. Blead the Rad but no air. Turned off all Rads up and downstairs to direct heat to dodgy Rad but no heat. Turned on all upstairs but after 30mins no heat at dodgy Rad. Turned all Rads but still no heat at dodgy Rad. Any ideas from the Panel?

Hi Hammy, you've come to the right place, sounds like a blokage then, turn off the offending rad at both valves and take it off, get a bucket and open one valve, water should come out, if it don't. thats where the blockage is, try the other side too, next thing is to drain down and take the valves off, it might be in the valves or the valves may have siezed shut,

Hi, When you say that you gave it a blast with mains water, you mean the Rad only? The concern that I have is that the flow and return pipes connected to Rad are both cold.

Check valves first,if not working replace bad valve. flush rad as well if you like.if still not working probably block pipe try dislodging it with a bit of mains pressure.flow and return will be cold if no flow.hope this helps it what I did and worked a treat 😁

I'll go for the TRV hammy, especially if the pin was stuck.
Lifting the pin doesn't always work the valve stays shut but the pin pulls up sometimes.
If there is a gland nut on the valve that the pin moves through try slackening off the gland nut (just 1/4 turn anti clockwise mind you) a little.

I turned off both valves at Rad and unscrewed the bleed screw and some water came out then stopped. Screwed back in again and turned on return pipe and unscrewed bleed screw and water came out. Did same to flow side and water came out. It appears that water is flowing through Rad but no heat in pipes or Rad. Any ideas?

You need to turn both valves off each end drain water out of rad, then check valves to see if working👍

Are the pipes to the valves hot/warm?
If they’re cold then not hot is circulating to the valves & through the rad
I’ll go with blockage
As Tom said.
Maybe try sucking it with wet vac see what comes out

Hi Tom, You get first prize of a week's holiday in Belfast. The other guys were good but not as good as you and they will get two weeks holidays in Belfast. I will go with your plan, that you very much. If it all fails then I'll call the Samaritians.
