You go to price a job and give advice, you arrive at the house and the customers tell you they want a new system boiler and an unvented cylinder (megaflow) smiley-talk002 3 amigos Their current set up is a 5 bedroom house with one main bathroom and two ensuits, it's currently a vented system with two shower pumps feeding the bathrooms, you test the flow rate at the kitchen tap and it's reading about 8 LPM and the static pressure is 1.5 bar. You suggest they'd need to upgrade their mains which is an old iron main, they tell you that it's a shared main and is feeding a few other houses before it reaches them smiley-sad056 nay I come across this quite often and there is an alternative solution other than a new main, WHAT IS IT ?

Yay hay......are they any good, what they like on price?are they powered by elec? They have their place mate and basically they are just a big vessel and you can have them in series if needed, you can also aim them at one particular bathroom if needed rather than all of them. they vary in price but are a lot cheaper now than a few yrs back.

I've never fitted one nor come across one, maybe next year I will (thanks to this forum I'll now have a little bit of knowledge on them if I do). Incidentally, the water authorities do guarantee a minimum water pressure to the customer (1.5bar?). However, they get round any guarantee problems by insisting it's measured at 4.00am (when water demand is low)!
