We have the three options really....... Plumbers mait........ Basin mate........silicon.

I always use plumbers mait it's a great product that I never get a leak on basin wastes and once it's installed you can use it straight away.

Plumbers Mait on the top joint under lip of waste. Then Basin Mate on the bottom. Do the B M up tight, then undo the nut, and a small bead of silicone around the thread where it sticks out of the rubber B M then do nut up again. Belt and braces - but never leaks.
