Got my job tickets for tomorrow,first job thats been reported water hammer! Only had it once and it was a part 2 ballvalve diaphragm washer perished. Are these the usual suspects or am I going to be playing the detective game rthdr,ffot

If it's an unvented system then check the expansion pressure or air gap, I've known the system to hammer with them being low.

Are these the usual suspects or am I going to be playing the detective game Endfeed could I add to your Check List - if they've had a new washing machine or other water applicence recently fitted as they can come with a separate non return valve these can cause some really especially water hammer issues.

Water hammer can ne a bit of a mare and may need you putting on your old raincoat to do some Columbo type detective work (just wander around the house, holding your head, and keep saying "gee, a few things just don't add up."
Main culprits in the past for me have been washing machines, ball valves, loose pipes hitting joists or main BS1010 stop tap washer disintegrated meaning the jumper was moving around making metal to metal contact.

The problem at home was torbeck inlet washer,changed washer not had any more probsicon_thumbs_up the problem at work was a delcham diaphram washer it had perished. When the toilet was flushed it sounded like a ship comng in to dock!!! Hoooooooooooork
