Hi i got a new boiler install for next week combi swap old ideal mini comin out new baxi duo going in cust just bought house and asked me about shower problem . Its one those steam shower enclosures quadrant shaped with digital display for steam radio etc i briefly had look today no hot water just cold flying out so quick guess is cartridge but it wasnt firing up the boiler when on. I suspected it was just mixing too much cold but its not bringing on boiler at all water was flying out enough ,all hot water taps fine bring boiler on and plenty hot water i tried turning cold water inlet to boiler off and hoped to see noticable diffrence at shower but cold water still flying out . So whats going on guys btw yeah i am a gas guy with not much experience in showers so anything dumb i am missing ?

Looks like its been used for a few year tbh its cust new house she doesnt no anything about previous but by the looks has been used and worked i need spend more time investigate next week when do boiler job but am i right in thinking it still can be cartridge if cold water inlet is off at boiler but cold still flys out shower would that just mean its main cold feed in shower is flying out without mixing hot if that makes sense ?

if cold water is flying out when the tap is in the hot position, then the cartridge is fucked, proper fucked, the cartridge controls how much cold is going in and the hot port should be wide open, So if only cold is coming out, the cartridge is giveing full cold and not limiting it,

Been out to one of those chines imported shower/steam enclosures twice (same one). First time, they'd just bought the house and symptoms pointed to the cartridge, it was a standard type 2 thermo cartridge so easy to get hold of and not expensive, didn't fix it though. Ended up being hot and cold plumbed in wrong. About a year later I got called back to it, this time the cartridge had actually gone, the replacement I bought the year before was still in my box off odds and sods If the one I saw was anything to go by though, they're proper shite. Looks nice if you like that sort of thing but makes your house damp with all the steam and the 'plumbing' round the back was all garden hoses and jubilee clips. If I had one in my house I'd swap it out for a normal shower and enclosure.

Does sound like the cartridge is faulty. They are designed to fail safe (ie if it goes wrong, it's not going to fail and allow scalding hot water through, it'll allow cold water through)
