So, if I was asked to relocate a rad on a s plan system I’d drain down
Another chap who I know said he’d bung F&E plus vent & cut pipes, relocate pipes & connect to new rad.
I said to him, how are you going to solder pipes with water in plus how about if they flood? He said he’d never had it & he’d use compression.
Am I too cautious or is he mad/lying?
I don’t know him well but he seems ok

He's right mate, I use full bore iso were I cut pipe and then you can solder from there on.or work back to cut and connect with compression.the bungs are designed to just change rad valves but they work a treat on pipe work under floor as well, big time saver...you get about a litre come out when you cut pipe then it creates a vacuum.

I agree with bunging and it does give you a ' must hurry up' mode of working, always have the tools to hand and a contingency plan, A hose pipe already rolled out to outside and a few towels at arms lenght, I very often 'shake' during bunging, you get a buzz from it, draining is a much more sedate pace, you can work much calmer but you're more likely to get a costly air lock,

a speed fit stop end will give you thinking time, back off regroup and make a plan B, and then you have to get the blank off, good fun, better to have a hose pipe ready, put that on, let it drain, Like i said before, you get a buzz from working on live pipes, and when its done, the feeling is good,,
