This is how I do it. Turn power off to heating...Bung tank...pull vacuum... Some great advice there, thanks PB. But how do you pull a vacuum?

Plug the f&e tank,one in vent and one in cold feed.its very rare I drain down now mateππππ

Thanks EF. I see now - putting the bungs in is 'pulling the vacuum'. I thought PB was doing something special between bungs in and breaking into the pipes to make sure the vacuum was formed before disconnecting anything.

Once the bungs are in crack open a drain off or rad vent and that is where and when you pull a vacuum mate.
