Hi all. My elderly neighbour is replacing her old Appollo wall hung boiler after 35+ yrs service. Bet that would have been three combis by now, so the little bit less efficiency of its gravity water system hasn't cost them anything. Just think of the breakdown charges alone over the life of 3 combis.
Anyway thats by the by, the new combi is going in the same place, next to the old 2 channel prog, and the fitter wants to supply a wireless stat timer. The lady gets confused putting her slippers on, but she can manage her mechanical clock timer. Am I right in thinking you can wire one channel of the existing one to the combi. If not I will reccomend he fits a single channel mechanical clock for her of the same make.

Yes Laura you can make it simple, no need for hives or fangle dangle gizmo's The easiest way I used to do was just wire a roomstat across the heating circuit terminals, So they can just turn the stat up or down to suit them, Or as you suggest a single channel timer,

Thanks Tom, that will save the old dear a few quid, and save me having to go round every time she messes up the wireless stat.

Some of the new programmers and stats need youngsters with degrees in IT to programme them. Keep it simple. Like when we had 3 tv channels with quality programmes on all three channels. Now it's 300 channels of total shite.
Also, shame to bin the Apollo. A customer of mine (actually a pub smiley-eatdrink009drinking ) has the Olympic. Great boilers those Thorns. Just keeps going and going - must be nearly as old as the tax disc on Dick's van.
