Just swapped one in a F&E tank
Took no time at all
Wish I could get a few of them a day!

I think I got the easier one today - washer swap in a part 1 ballcock in a cistern. Like you say though, wouldn't mind 10 a day

I can't be arsed with washer swapping, I put a new valve in, its quicker than stripping down the old one and for £6 a pop no one minds, the old one goes in the scrap bag,

I just put a new one in too i can't be arsed being in a shitty loft trying to strip it down they are a disposable item in my eyes, taps are the same if they don't give in easy for a washer repair I ain't pissing about with them.

To be fair I do usually change the whole valve, but this was in an easy access toilet cistern, the arm was already nicely bent round the syphon and it was in Radcliffe (I don't know the area) and I didn't have a part 1 with me. And (here's the killer) I didn't have a washer with me either, so my washer change was actually a ''turn it round and hope the back side of the old washer is still in good nick''

I usually fit new, but sometimes I'm forced to rebuild instead. Last time I did it was a loft tank with nightmare access. Big 30s house with tall roof. Tanks were on a platform on stilts in corner of roof right up under the tiles. Was originally put in my the elderly owner himself decades ago and he had insulated the tanks and boxed them in. Fookin 'mare for access when standing on a step ladder balanced on joists.
No way I could reach the back of the tank in corner where supply pipe joined tap connector on outside of tank. Had to lean across the tank at arms length and undo the very tight nut on the inside of tank, Whilst trying to stop the whole valve spinning. Managed to get the valve out and rebuilt it.
Who's be a plumber??

Some of these jobs can be a nightmare W & you really need to charge a lot for them.
