got one of those cheap pumps for this job, I expected a 2 hour job, first of all the pump vavles would not shut off, so a drain down is required and new pump valves,, so far so good Attachment Deletedbugger would not fill, on investigation the header tank is just about cylinder, Attachment Deletedand fed from the hot water storage, so no force behind it, Attachment Deleted

so I cut a tee in the cold mains water and put a temp feed to fill it from the vent, Attachment Deletedthen fill the system but the pump still wont push the water round, I got there at 9.30 this morn and at 3.30 I'd had enough, I bid the lady goodbye and shall return Monday, today I was the statue,

It would be interesting to know what pressure the system was producing if there's very little flow?

pressure's not important on the heating battle, Once the system is full the pump is just circluating the water round, Its getting the airlocks out where its failing, there's no head of weight to shift the air locks, the water mains pressure there was I'm guessing 80 psi, thats the average on the area, and that should have moved it when I pressured it with the water main, but no joy, I've retreated today and lost, but i'll reform on Monday and try pressurizing from differant points, I will win in the end, smiley-taunt005 show bum

Is there any advantage in filling the system at a slow rate in your opinion Tom? thats debateable I think, I can see arguments on both sides, thats why i'm thinking over the weekend the air will just move without anyone forcing it, hopefully,

yea, I just cobbled up to the vent using a tee because i did't have an elbow, I'm not carrying a lot of stock so its a case of, 'make do and mend' anything goes on a temp feed, funny thing was, as i'm looking for stuff, I'm thinking, " i wish I had enfeeds stock box here "
