Hi all, my neighbour is doing his own bathroom up. He’s bought an electric heating element to fit to the rad so it’s dual fuel and in the summer will heat up in the electric element.
i ve told him he should check with the rad manufacturer ( it’s a 10 yr old towel rail ) as not all towel rails are suitable or designed for dual fuel. Thing is I ve looked on line and can’t find any information. I was told of expansion problems etc that’s why you can’t just add it to any rad
can anyone she’d any light on it please

With a radiator full of water & a cold system in the Summer, I don’t think there should be an expansion problem when he uses his element BD.

Can't see a problem. The EV or F&E will handle any expansion, whether it's heated by boiler or leccy. Only problem would be if both valves were off. I've added elements to existing towel rails in the past. Worked very well. Prefer the elements with built in stat control.
