Strictly speaking no, should fit them to male iron.π I've fitted them to isolation valves and had no troubles.

Agree with EF
Nowadays you see them fitted straight to iso.

I've seen trillions connected to iso valves and i do it too, so fear not aj, but be gentle, don't wring their neck when you tighten them, hand tight then a quarter turn with a spanner, check for leaks and if they're ok,,job done,

If you want belt and braces when attaching the female end of a flexi directly to an iso, you can get tap tail adaptors specifically for this job. Available in 1/2" and 3/8". Give more of a mating surface than going straight onto iso.

Good recommendation, Dick. Didn't know they existed. Cheaper than buying adaptors and ordinary isolators.

Or keep your unused radiator tails. The kind with a 15mm tail on. You don't take the old tails out of the rad when changing the valve so keep the unused new tails for this. I'm actually running low on them, down to 2 I think. Need to change more rad valves They're not exactly a male iron, but not far off and not nearly as sharp as an ISO face Attachment Deleted.
