Hi guys, had this site reccomended to me from guys on the screwfix forum.
I'm currently doing my level 2 and I'm looking for plumbers to go out with and get some experience.
I'm happy to work for free (and can bring coffee and bacon rolls)
I'm based in Norfolk but I'm happy to travel and have my own transport.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks

Thanks Hi gordie, how about trying your local council Norfolk city homes? or what ever its called. I know a joiner who went down this road and ended up with an apprenticeship!

Hope you can find somewhere George.
We oldies don't realise how difficult it is now for you young un's.
100s turn up at my place for an apprentice interview 1st then 2nd interviews are carried out.
Back in the day I just turned up for the advertised job with one other lad and the gaffer said he wanted someone local (which was me).
Keep your chin up and enrol at a college for a plumbers pre apprentice course would be my advice.

Good luck with your mission, George. It's tough to get in these days, as Crowsfoot says. I started in the mid 80s, when it was all 'Maggie's Millions' on the rock 'n' roll - but I reckon it was still easier to get a job then than it is now for those starting out. For a start, we didn't have to compete with fookers coming from other countries. Bloody Polaks with their 'work ethic' - who do they think they are?
One of the best places to get in to the trade seems to be plumber's merchants. You need to visit and get known there. Speak to visiting plumbers and give them your contact details. Show willingness.
Also, what's all this nonsense about CVs these days? Went past a local pub the other day. Had a sign outside saying 'BAR STAFF WANTED - DROP YOUR CV IN'. What the hell is that all about? CV to pull pints? Years ago, CVs were for if you wanted to be a doctor or chairman of ICI, jobs like that. World's gone mad!
