Hi Guys back in my loft this weekend to straighten out my pipe work from days of old when the last plumer didn't give a shit how the pipe work looked (it was playing havoc with my OCD) anyway got round to lagging my pipe work with the usual foam tubing, I've done a nice neat job on the bends, elbows and tees but was wondering what you pros use/do when you come to gate valves ?? valve body is considerably larger than the lagging tube diameter I have to make a decent job of it ! Regards Willo

There's no real way to make it look good around valves Willo, I normally secure it with cable ties or tape.

I would normally use a larger piece of lagging if you want a good neat job , for example if your lagging 22mm and come to a valve then get yourself a length of 75mm lagging and cut and trim a small piece and fit around your valve and overlap your 22mm , you can then finish off by using some gaffer tape of the same colour to join the 2 together , this will look nice and tidy and more importantly maintain the insulation around the valve....

Thanks guys for your suggestions ive decided to make a polystyrene cover for the valves im thinking of making a "hot wire" cutter, then hollowing the cover out to fit the valve then securing it with tie wraps i know it a lot of messing about but while I've got these things on the end of my arms I'll give them something constructive to do regards Willo
