Plumber comes in altering pipe work,drainging down, gets his pipes in position ready for new shower,turns water back on, will come back for second fix when tilers done!..next day you notice combi boiler is firing up when toilet is flushed or when cold taps is switched on!!! Whats going on  ....is it a boiler problem? Is it the plumbers fault? |

my guess is boilers fine. hot and cold feeding bathroom have been connected wrong. swap them over where they supply the bathroom and all should be fine.

the pipework is obviously wrong, BUT was it always wrong or has it just started,
that is the question for the defence M'Lud,,,,

Trapped air in the capped off shower feed compressing and expanding causing the flow switch to operate, or stoptap not turned on fully causing low pressure and a pressure drop at the diaphragm.

slight water hammer kicking on flow switch on combi, fix water hammer or fit check valve and mini expansion vessel on cold inlet to combi.

Correct ian, the capped off shower pipe is a dead leg causing"bounce" and is tricking the boiler into firing. Let air out of dead legs and problem solved! |
