There are a few different styles out there with much varying prices.
Has anyone had a heat mat that’s allowed a wall to burn, pipe to melt etc.?
It’s on my mind sometimes.
A chap burned my mums carpet years ago.
Any chance of a video Tom?
Cheers all

I always use 2 heatmats rocket, and always move the flame , holding flame steady ,will always do a heatmat in no time. And for extra peace of mind how about a bit of plasterboard(half hour fire rated after all💪) Failing that make sure you have an up to date fire extinguisher😇

yea Rocky I'll do a vid on heatmats, you can't be too carefull, I remember a time donkeys ago I was installing central heating at the same time an electrian is rewiring, helaid one of his wires on a hot joint and it melted on the pipe, no one noticed, Anyway i got the heating going using a 'fly lead' from the temp electric mains all well and good so i fucks off,, Two days later i get a phone call there's an awfull smell of gas and the heatings gone off, So I got there and the lady had turned off the gas and told me it was strongest upstairs near the cylinder cupboard, I took the boards up and found the melted wire had arced the copper and put a pin hole and blown the fuse, It gas the gas pipe, that could have been realy bad if it ignited the gas, smiley-sad056 nay

As a good rule of thumb the cheap/black ones are not intended to protect from the flame, just solder drips.

I have a square piece of steel off an old boiler that I put in front of anything that can be damaged and in front of that I have the heat mat. I never get a problem pal

A ceramic wall tile is good or a bit of Hardibacker board.
