A woman I know had a new water meter fitted about 2/3 yrs ago. Yesterday she told me her water bill was in & it was £52 for 6 months. I told her that was very cheap & I pay approx £180 half yearly on my meter. She lives alone but it’s still cheap.
She shows me the bill & told me it’s always been the same since the new meter was fitted.
She’s not being charged for any water or waste water usage, she only pays the standing charge hence why it’s so cheap.
The meter gets read by whoever from Thames water so it’s not estimated.
The new meter obviously isn’t spinning.
So, does she tell them or as they fitted it & read it just stay quiet?
She doesn’t know what to do.
What would you do?

The meter is probably working, An old dear on her own won't use much water, Its how it works, the water board fits a meter where they know it will be little usage knowing that soon that property will have a normal family one daythen, WOOOOOOsh, the water usage goes up and so does the bill, BUT you can't take a meter out once is been fitted,So tell her to relax and enjoy the cheap living, If the meter was't working the reader would have spotted it, smiley-chores011washing

She has nothing to worry about Rocky because if their equipment is faulty they can't demand back payments. It's very uncommon them meters don't work as they are displacement meters that are so accurate they can measure tear drop amounts running through it. Tell her to enjoy what she is paying  |

Tell her to enjoy what she is paying  Yep, it’s what I think PB It’s down to them to check & if needs be maintain. She has a semi, washing machine, dishwasher, nice garden so waters is being used. |
