Always a firm favourite & adversary of the Plumbers on the Screwflux Forum, Water Systems loved his ‘Sludge Buckets’, so I found this whilst rummaging through some note. It’s a detail of how to build a Heat Bank; wiki.diyfaq.org.uk/index.php?title=DIY_Heat_BankI’ve done one or two, you need plenty inhibitor & they work well👍

very interesting Dick, I've never done one like that, wont the constant intruduction of air in the CWS tank water cause problems, or am i thinking too much,

Once I just converted a direct copper cylinder & used the existing header tank as the F&E tank👍👍 I knew Water Systems & he was a grumpy auld cunt, but knowledgeable. He owned & run Churchill Systems, the electric boilers etc. He had a cottage in rural Scotland & it was on a Private Water Supply, with very limited incoming water pressure. He had this system for pressuring his CH system that he called CHIPS. But that’s a story for another day👍 Dead now of course, but I liked him & miss him. It’s funny reading some of the old stuff, he was entertaining😀😀😀

I think I told this story before about a job I went to and the husband had fitted a tall towel radiator in their bathroom in replacement of the small towel radiator and he said it won't fill with water, I looked in the airing cupboard and they had a heatbank with the f&e tank on the top and I explained to him the science of water and how it self levels he said to me what if he takes the bleed screw plug out and fills it with water. laughing-dog-smiley-emoticon True story and yes people are that fucking stupid.

I remember, when did he pass away Dick ? It’s got to be 3-4 years ago PB. He was a M&E Engineer & know his onions, he had great ideas & but you couldn’t tell him that Thermal Stores & Heat Banks were Sludge Buckets. Like all manufacturers, he always blamed the installers - never his design, oh no FFS!! I’d love to discuss the merits of a Combi Plate Loaded HW systems. But unfortunately, he’s the wrong side of the lawn now.😞

RIP Walter systems He was a pain in the arse, but I enjoyed speaking to him. Because he was M&E, he was great at both Plumbing/Heating design & control systems. The Churchill Systems were popular in & around Manchester & the north west.
