Needed to change the 1/4 turn cartridges in some basin taps this afternoon,
Tried my backnut spanner to hold the spout while using my deep socket and wrench on the gubbins, socket kept slipping off because the hex on the gubbins was only shallow.
Decided I needed 2 hands on the wrench, one to turn it, the other to hold downwards pressure on it.
After a few different approaches this one worked for a hands free spout holding device mechanism doodad watchamacallit.
I was so impressed I took a photo to share with you all, I held the fancy piece of kit with my groin and had 2 hands free for the gubbins
