its defo a cash cow machine, What gets me is, it can all be done in the day if they wanted to, As a sole trader I had to take out 3 days off work as well as paying for the course,assessment and certs, Then on my last term before retirement ( 3 years) I asked if i could have a reduction because I did't need the full term, they said no, So i said fuck right off, you're getting nothing,

Oh and expect a similar rant next Friday...... I’m going back for two days for the lpg......ah yes I get it, so we need a seperate 2 day course for a gas that has a slightly different calorific value to natural gas eh ?

Well, I’ve got mine in a couple of weeks.  I’ve heard various reports on what’s still in & what’s not.  I was told Controls are no longer done, but who knows??
Im predominately doing New Build, so very limited knowledge required.  But I do most of the testing, commissioning, Boiler Benchmarks etc.  I think it’s gone full circle, back to the days of Acops - which could be done drunk😀😀🥃🥃🥃🥃😂😂😂

Ive got the books out & doing a bit of Studying & going to ask if I can use my Digi Manometer & Phone Apps.  Which the GS inspector permitted on his visit👍  I hate fannying around with water & U gauges, so 20th century, and all these fucking ‘longhand’ calculations, when it takes two minutes with your phone.

Good luck with your F Gas BD, I had an opportunity to do mine for about £700 a few years ago & passed it up - which I regret😡

Last time i did it, I had to identify a rig, say what it was and say if it worked, It was a burner valve connected to the stat, the stat was fixed away from the burner, I turned the stat from 0 to 5, the burner kicked in, I took the stat out of its fixed position and put in in the flame, the flame died out,

So my answer was, burner stat, working,
there was 10 such questions, I took the answers to a assessor, he says one wrong tom, go and look again, so i'm scratchin my head, I dunno whats wrong, So he points to the rig with the burner stat, I asked whats wrong, he says " you put its working" I says " it is" and i showed him, he then says, " you're not supposed to move anything and its not working where it is," So I says " but it is working" he says " do you want to pass or not", so I put boiler stat not working,

Ive never done gas assessment at the same place! 5 different ones up till now. Because of moving area, jobs etc the timing has always meant I never return. The only reason I mention this, is because every time I do it ,everyone is on first name terms with assessor,and have known each other years etc.
I thought what a luxury to keep going back same centre etc and know the assessor. Not for me though, and indeed , in 5 years it will be another one, as a centre has closed down now!
