These terms were invented by our disinguished member Sir Richard Puller in about 2006 as I remember, He was concerned that at that time there was a big influx of
cc's and ccc's entering plumbing,
cc's cowboy course plumbers and ccc's career changing chancers,
A Time served plumber is trained on the job by a mentor plus attends tech college to learn the more technical stuff usually over a period of 5 years, This time and training cannot be bought it has to be earned,
a cc and ccc buys a 6 to 10 week course and gets a certificate with his photo and id on it to show the custerd he is a competent plumber,
So now decades on, has this had an effect on our plumbing trade, It certainly never lost me any work, in fact I gained more work and people would gladly wait for me to be available,
anyone else gained or lost ??

It's around 12 years since the last cc turned up to assist me at the firm where I work.I had an ex butcher and a baker alas no candlestickmaker just a mechanic.They had paid £5000 grand to the training centre and gave their time free without any pay.I wondered how they managed to pay their bills whilst doing the cc plumbing. I think that they we're taken for a right ride wonder if any of them ever got a plumbing job and what happened to the cc trend it seemed to come to a sudden end?

I’ve taken some brief time away from the Royal Wedding to reply to this Tom. Please forgive me if I’m brief, but I think I’ve pulled the Brides Mother, a coloured American MILF. Olive is asleep in a Flower Bed somewhere, sleeping off the free booze. So as you know, when the cats away etc etc!! Anyroad, the aforementioned cc’s & ccc’s have completely killed the domestic Plumbing & Heating Trade. The clueless morons are as thick as flies around here, well in Glasgow & not here. I understand in most urban areas are the the UK, there’s 1000s of RGIs(Gas Safe Registered Installer). You can check your own area, but don’t blame me if their photos scare you, they’re ugly cunts too!!! Combi swops for £150 & Bathroom Suites for £35, are their normal Labour Rates, which are madness!!!! I did warn everyone!!! Anyway, must dash - I’ve a Jungle Bunny to track down!!! |

I see it a lot working for a manufacturer because I’m looking at 5 or 6 installations a day
i call the combi slingers the course cowboys. At the end of the day it’s just 6 pipes and a condense run, Jesus a 15 year old monkey could be taught to do that.
The combi slinger doesnt know about low loss headers, zoning, electrics, other types of mechanical seperation. He gives it large down the pub as to how much money he is on.
Just go go on Facebook on gas chat...it’s embarrassing. Some dick is stood in a customers house. Boiler is flashing a fault. He videos it and puts it on gas chat asking for help. He’s not taken the case off and probably doesn’t own a multi meter. So the customer is blissfully unaware that this cretin is charging her to look at the boiler and he hasn’t a clue what he’s doing.
this scenario occurs daily on gas chant....unbelievable

That’s why I only do new builds now, competition is horrendous around here & the domestic Plumbing & Heating game is completely fucked. The irony is they’re still advertising these Mickey Mouse courses & saying you’ll be on £45K/year after you complete it!!!! Lots of these chancers are being recruited as Meter Monkeys, fitting Smart Meters. Fit one of these Smart Meters at your pearl matey!! |

A while back I went to a job and the house had all UFH and only rads in the bathrooms, the customer had a guy out because the rads wouldn't warm up but the UFH worked fine as did the hot water, he eventually went away baffled and defeated.I got the call from the customer to have a look  she'd got my number off a friend. I got there big house only about five yrs old, I went into the boiler room which had a big oil fired boiler and megaflow and what the previous Muppet didn't notice is the bathroom rads were feed from the hot water demand (summer circuit) and the lever valve was shut off (customer had knocked it or chucked stuff in there and knocked it) 5 mins problem sorted  |

The gas safety ruling that the last one out takes full responsibility for the entire installation certainly scares the fuck out of the newbies who will condemn anything that's getting on a bit or don't understand.
Often just to pass the buck onto someone else.
Horrible trade at the moment!
If your car passes the MOT, then you drive round the corner and the chassis collapses you've no comebacks on the MOT garage because the MOT is only on the vehicles condition at time of testing.
Thinks.....No old vehicle would ever pass an MOT if it had the same gas safe regulation applied to it, would it?
