I love love love customers who know the make & model of their taps.
I don't get involved with buying cheap valves from wickes as more times than not they don't work.
Do you hunt around for the valves if you don't know tap make? I don't & I tell customers why.
Just ordered some Franke Eiger valves, do easy, thank you customer.

What's the quickest way to know if the tap has ceramic incerts if you where on and off the job - I've just got a call for a dripping mixing tap in a domestic kitchen - any advice would be handy.

Yep 1/4 turn = ceramic
I only change if customers know tap make & model. If not I'm not interested to hunt for the part (unless they pay upfront per hour)
