Hello.
I am having problems with my boiler. Basically when I turn on the hot water, the radiators come on too. The Boiler is a Baxi Combi 80e (fairly old now). I had an engineer round, and he said its the diverter valve at fault and it needs replacing.
I am fairly competent, but is this a job for an engineer or can someone try to tackle it themselves? (i.e: me).
Thank you

Ahh ok.
The engineer said to replace the whole part, i shall look into the kit and try to service it myself.
Any tips on what i should lookout for?
Thanks again.

Ita a bit of a fiddly job getting the valve out and in again, stripping down is, straight forward if you take pics at every stage so you know how it goes, you could do a plan A, service the valve or plan b, replace the valve, or plan c, take the valve off, give it a rinsing in cold ,clean water and replace, refurbished valve www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BAXI-COMBI-80E-80-ECO-105E-105HE-DIVERTER-WATER-VALVE-248061-7224344/331967784386?hash=item4d4ad265c2%3Am%3AmZIMCnLKwOyXFUPeaUEB9Tw&var=541017792331

There's quite a few parts in those repair kits. For an extra £30, I would get an exchange one that's guaranteed. I've known people try to use the repair kit, and still have leaks.

thats a fair point Woodie, It is a fiddly job the first time you do one, obviously the more you do, the easier it is, So for a one off job, the refurbed valve would be a better option,

Yes, Tom, depends on the boiler. Customer's Glow Worm 30cxi d v was playing up when I went to it last week. That's one boiler worth doing the kit of bits. Only about 4 or 5 parts to change, a real breeze - especially as you can change them with the valve body/block still in place.
At least the op now has the choice, thanks to your help.
