This was on a FB page & id like to know if anyone has a come across it &/or has a solution
Folks I went to a house over 2 months ago water gushing out of the over flow from the cold feed tank. Changed the float valve it's shutting off every time but the tanks still over flowing. Could go for 2 weeks or more without overflowing at all then all of a sudden the overflow can't get rid of the water quick enough. Got a text one day from the customer saying water had came from the roof space right into the livingroom (two story house) F&E tank is lower than the big tank so wouldn't be back feeding into it. Ask 2 plumbers of over 15 years and they said they've never seen anything like that before. Anyone any ideas? Thanks in advance

the dip pipe/overflow in the tank is causing a syphon, once the syhon starts the ball valve is topping up so it carries on, solution cut the dip pipe shorter

Never had that fault Rocky but I've had plenty overflows blocked due to insects - here's an insect Attachment DeletedI removed two weeks ago from F&E tank with a lid, which overflowed into a bathroom.

I've had recall for similar situation, the new ball valve i fitted was faulty,ok when I left it😐the overflow was plumbed in traveling on a incline so slowing flow down enough to spill over tank.put new ball valve in and sorted over flow out and all ok!
