I copied this from a Mira Showers Training Module that I attended a few weeks ago. I can't make out what it is in the first one (a giant caterpillar!) Image two is I guess the reason why the new H &S reg's had to be done/overdone. A Steve the pro job perhaps!  Attachment Deleted |

Never fails to amaze me why Electric Showers are sold to ANYONE!!.......They’re killing machines.
Just look at how close these wires are to water.

I never fix any electrical showers, they just don't seem to be popular up here.
However, I wonder why the Electricians don't get all the electric shower replacements since the introduction of felxi hoses?

Totally agree that no plumber would ever do work like that.
It's the DIYers who have turned out this type of work in the past that has fucked up the plumbers in regards to fitting them all by themselves.
1/ Rogues gallery - I can't make any sense of the picture, there is normally a ribbon connection cable where that hairy thing is so perhaps it's just burnt out and that's all what's left of it.
2/ Tiles are missing along with the side of the shower and that gate valve poking out the side (terrible diy & dangerous job).
3/ Silicone on the showers electrics! Apparently there's something in the silicone that corrodes electrical terminals (this was a complete new one on me)!
4/ Can't see particular fault here, it's just that the showers electrics have burnt out.
5/ Naughty, naughty, the plumbers drilled through the fixing hole in order to fix the shower (see the drill residues left inside), this practice is frowned upon by Mira (even though the plumbers actually put the screw cover cap in).
They're the faults as far as I can see.
I do fit a lot of electric showers these days.

Used to hit the clubs reeking of Blue Stratos in our youth. How I never went up like a roman candle when I sparked up a ciggie, I'll never know.
