Afternoon gents, I was flicking through the pictures on my phone when this bugger reminded me that I have to go back to a job to tighten or replace this tap, it's loose and moves about when they use it. I tried to tighten it from underneath but there's no obvious way to do it from below, I had a play with grips on the thread but not enough room and didn't want to damage the threads too much incase I ended up replacing the tap. Have seen these before but has been when I was ripping them out and have previously had to destroy one to get it out from below, I seem to remember that once it was out and I looked at it - it was piss easy if I'd known how to do it. So question is how do I tighten this bugger up? Attachment Deleted

Can you not swap that thing for one with a nut in it? Should be the same size I think

That's a cavity wall/ plaster board fixing you have there, bin it for this.

It's not a plasterboard fixing, does look like one though. Some B and Q taps come with this rather than a horseshoe fixing, seen it a few times, I think it makes it so you can fit from above, i.e. you drop the bar down through the hole and then tighten from above. When I go back I'll have a fettle above as there's a grub screw under a collar at the bottom of the tap that I didn't touch when I was there before.
