Hi all. I need a bit of advice: I'm installing a shallow shower tray for my elderly mum who is disabled. It is a concrete floor so I will have to channel out the floor for the trap, waste and 40 mm pipe as unfortunately it's not on an outside wall. Any suggestions for a shallow waste and trap? Also because the waste pipe will be below floor level it will come out through the wall lower than the existing gulley drain and below the existing path. What's the preferred way to deal with this? I'm thinking I will have to cut into the underground drainage and put in a new branch? If this is correct, what type of outlet do you use to join the 40 mm waste pipe? It will need to comply with current building regs. Any advice or links to materials or videos would be really helpful. Thanks.

Thanks for your reply. I've had a look at the link and it looks good - not sure yet if it's plastic until I start digging. I'm assuming you bring the 110 mm into the bathroom? Is there an adapter you can get to join the 40 mm shower waste pipe? As I said I can't use a gulley as the level of the outlet is below the path. Cheers.

if you only need 40mm in the bathroom, you can reduce it, or even just put a 40mm strap on to the drain pipe if its plastic, if its cast or clay you'll need to make a manhole connection,

Here’s a question
If you’re digging & connecting into the underground soil pipe that shared how do you stop being hit by turfs & piss once you cut it?
Just be quick I would think?

the best way is make a manhole, with a grinder cut into the top two cuts across the pipe about 4 inchea apart, then two more cuts at 90 degrees joining up the other two, so you've cut a sqaure out of the top, the bottom is still intact and the shit can still sail past, It never fills the drain to the top, then build up benching with morter and form a man hole,

Perhaps some photos of the drain would help mate. It could be that there’s a drain trap lower than where your shower waste pipe comes out through the wall👍👍
I hope your Mum is doing OK?

If it's easier I'd fit a whale pump which is what we sometimes use in wet rooms, maybe an easier option.
