For olives I put a smear of Fernox Hawk White on. I found that Boss White dried up on me half way through the tub. For threaded joints, good old PTFE tape. Don't use this new fangled Loctite glue or string. Much too expensive. I lose about 2 rolls of PTFE a week. No matter as it's cheap as chips, but if it was the Loctite, could work out expensive.
Would like to try this stuff some time. Looks like it can be used on olives, threads, etc. Think the Yanks call it pipe dope.

I’ve just ordered the loctite glue and string.....agree very very expensive. I’ll give it a whirl but can’t see it being a life changing moment

That True Blue stuff is good stuff! Never see it in the merchants though! Loctite thread seal is amazing stuff! You can apply it to the fitting, do up just hand tight and it will hold! (NOT TO BE USED ON PLASTIC THREADS THOUGH) Loctite string is some good shit to, on stainless steel threads it's a must!

The lid on the tub of my boss white broke when my drill was rested on it in my tool bag so looking for a tin rather than a tub, will give water hawk a try next cos I'm getting sick of oil from the boss white lining everything in the bottom of my bag...

That looks similar to the one in my Link. Made by the same people - Rectorseal. Not sure if it's WRAS approved for potable.

I’ve just ordered the loctite glue and string.....agree very very expensive. I’ll give it a whirl but can’t see it being a life changing moment I'm sure it's good stuff and has it's uses. I'm sure the big thing is that it's a lot quicker to put a bit of string or the glue on, rather then fiddle with 10 turns of PTFE. I suppose if I was fitting 8 rads every day, the string or glue would save lots of time. But I've been using PTFE for decades and it gives me confidence it will seal. And I'm tighter than 2 coats of paint. smiley-sad027 skint
Only thing with the Loctite glue is to make sure you use it in good time, as it has a use by date. Some online sellers sell it cheaper, but with a short date, so it has to be used quickly.

I found this stuff in a box & started using it, it’s great with the brush You just paint it on the olives. For threads I’d use Locktite 55 or Screwfix Liquid PTFE, the aerobic glue👍
