they were widely used on gravity heating sytems during the seventies and eighty's to stop the water circulating round the heating during summer months, we called them the dumb ball valves, worked well for that because there was no pressure behind the gravity circuit to the cylinder,

Do you think they will work on gravity h/w? Will it restrict the flow too much? How about using it in the vertical position?

Fitted them on a few new washing machine installations - manufacturers requirement - for cross contamination prevention.

they work vertical but a gravity HW circuit needs to be open, one of those would stop the circulation, thats why we used them on the rad circuit, to prevent the water heating the rads in Summer,

Shower manual mixer on mains pressure and gravity h/w. Mains passing back to storage tank. Might put a p.r.v on mains.i was looking for a quick fix with the n.r.v😕

No, it will stop the cold water going up the hot but allow water flow in the direction of the arrow, and because the cold is mains, you need a double check valve or it will force past it,
thats if i'm reading it right, you have a shower with cold mains and tank fed hot ? is that right,

another thing I have done in the past with some success is put a ball o fix on the cold and trottle it down to limit the water entering the shower,

My worries were that with the hot side pressure would not be strong enough to push the nrv open when shower is on... |

One thing I saw yesterday was a balancing valve. It basically gives you balanced hot & cold. It was £69 but I can’t remember where I saw it.
