Those fixing have come down quite a bit. Years ago use to use ones that were a push fit on the pipes instead of compression. Were quite expensive. Mira or something like that.
I remember Mira (I think it was a Mira) did a shower unit with pushfit connections on the back so you pushed onto the hot and cold feed, but you needed a locking plate because the pushfit connections had no sharkbite in them because if ihey did you wouldn't be able to remove it. the problem was people fitted them with out the plate and if there was play in the pipes they'd pop out inside the wall and flood the house. I remember going out to one near Gatwick and it had made a right mess, it had been in for quite some time but eventually it let go. They never managed to get hold of the original installer.
