A woman has had a shower tray fitted. Cubicle scenario.
The plumber has been paid & done the off.
The shower is blocked. I’ve been there today to fit toilet properly as it wasn’t secured. It was also leaking, did a bit of boxing in, I’m not great at it.
I’ve put half a bottle of one shot down the shower drain, bit of gurgling & foaming but still blocked. Very very slow draining. I also plunged it. Nothing.
Everything is tiled. There’s no access panel at the bottom.
I’m thinking it’s some tiles off & get the tray out somehow. I’m stumped on this one.
I reckon it’s full of tile grout as it’s not been used since it was fitted & the shower tray is still filthy with powder & grout.
Any thoughts? How would I know if the trap unscrews from above?
It’s a rented house. Nice woman, pays good money, no holding back & pays deposit up front so I don’t want to walk away as she could be a good customer & very local to me.
No pics I’m afraid.
Cheers all

Normally I go in from the ceiling under the shower if possible as it's the easiest and cheapest option, if that's not possible I'd price to remove & refit the shower space.

Really interesting these threads to see things from the other side. If you want me to butt out (since I'm not a plumber - just a dafty) just tell me and I will.
My thoughts as a (used to be) customer are I am always as friendly as possible and tell my wife the same. Not only is it good manners to show some respect for the knowledge, experience and workmanship but also you might be a bit less likely to be ripped off. 10 years ago we'd just moved in to a new house and after I'd fked up yet another job draining down and refilling the heating wouldn't come on. I called out the local guy and told him - it was freezing that night. He popped in on his way back from a larger London job realised straight away the problem was an air block and basically got the heating on inside an hour.
I was expecting to pay up to 100 for an hours work (in SE) but my jaw dropped when he just almost like don't worry about it "....a tenner....". So gave him a bottle of wine too and for the next few years he got all the plumbing in my house and neighbours (still does their boiler I think and no doubt would be first in line to upgrad when the time comes).
Note I am NOT suggesting any plumber work for that tiny amount - just recounting the story and I bet it wouldn't have happened if I'd have started giving him any kind of frosty reception. I might then have been told "....sorry we'll need to re-arrange the pipework....about £1500 and I could start in a week or two...."

I am always very good with customers hence my robinhood status, I always treat people how I'm expected to be treated but treat me like a cunt then it works both ways.

your opinion on here is valued and welcome dafty, as is anyones, we all have different approaches to jobs and people and its changable at any time, We always start in good faith and are pleasant, but when folks start teckintpiss, we have a sting in the tail, Many times i have been to a job and everything is ok when I leave but many times the phone rings and i have to go back, If its my fault, I'll take it on the chin and try to learn from it, but when its not my fault i have wasted my time travelling out of my way and had to listen to an excuse of why they had to call me back, The customer has hired me to do a job and thats the end of it, I'm not on a maintenance contract for life, They think because it took 5 mins in the house, its no trouble to me, they don't take in the fact of busy traffic, parking,me wanting to get home etc, and the more tired you are the more likely you are to , make it unattractive to call again because the cat has pissed on the floor,,

I too would use PB approach, cause once you show them the problem they accept the bills. However, I have had limited luck with a thin welding wire(similar to a brazing rod but twice the length) which I try to break the grout up with to confirm my suspicions of the Tiler has dumped his load!

It’s not as if it can be snaked or rodded. It’s a dilemma but I’m learning now to not worry about it. It’s the customers issue & to get it resolved will cost.
No pay - no play
I might put that on my van!
